Holland America Line Launches Mobile App

Holland America Line (HAL) is launching a free app for mobile phones and tablets that utilize its popular browser-based Navigator tool. The app can be used aboard HAL ships and can be downloaded from the iTunes App and Google Play stores.

HAL cruise guests can use the app to plan daily activities, book shore excursions, review restaurant menus and make dining reservations, examine spa treatments, and review their account statements among other functions. The app’s chat function enables guests to communicate with each other for free while on board.

“The Navigator app makes it easy for our guests to personalize their cruise experience from anywhere on the ship,” said Orlando Ashford, Holland America Line’s president. “The most exciting function of Navigator is that it allows our guests to chat with each other for free, which makes it easy to stay connected and make plans with fellow travelers throughout the cruise.”

The app enables guests to personalize their daily schedules by selecting and saving activities, which appear alongside booked dining reservations and shore excursions on the app. Notifications can be set to provide users with reminders and alerts for reservations and messages. Guests can download the app free of charge while aboard HAL ships without using internet minutes.

Later this year, Holland America Line will offer pre-voyage access to the app, which is currently available to use only during a guest’s cruise. The expanded access will allow passengers to review shipboard services and view the interactive fleet map at any time before boarding their ship.
