Officials at Port Canaveral in Florida approved the initial plans to begin vetting companies who would refurbish Terminal 8 and the adjacent Terminal 10, both of which would be utilized by Disney Cruise Line.

According to the Orlando Sentinel, Disney currently sails out of Terminal 8 and will expand into Terminal 10 when the cruise line launches its new Trident class ships in 2021.

The Canaveral Port Authority Board of Commissioners and Disney approved the concept designs for the land and marine improvements on the two terminals.

Terminal 8’s refurbishment will cost an estimated $39.6 million and include renovating floors, a new luggage screening building, a jet-way style boarding bridge, an ADA ramp, a new area for arrivals and technological improvements.

Terminal 10, the $6.8 million upgrades would include new seating and concierge area that would be used by current tenant Norwegian Cruise Line, as well as Disney when it introduces its latest ships.

Port Canaveral officials recommended BEA Architects out of Miami to handle the refurbishments and upgrades of Terminal 8, while Jacobs construction firm was recommended for Terminal 10.
