Royal Caribbean Adds World’s Largest Ship

Royal Caribbean has it if you are in the market for an all-in-one vacation for yourself or your family. The cruise line boasts the largest ships in the world contained in their Oasis Class. Originating in 2009, the Oasis Class provided four luxury liners; Royal Caribbean took delivery of the fifth. “Wonder of the Seas” is now the largest ship not only in the fleet but in the world.

Royal Caribbean’s Largest Ship

Royal Caribbean took delivery of the ship in Marseille, France, with dignitaries from the shipyard, Chantiers de l’Atlantique. Construction overcame the pandemic to deliver the massive ship capable of carrying 7,000 passengers and 2,300 crew.

“Taking delivery of Wonder of the Seas is the culmination of 30 months of ingenuity and partnership across more than 2,000 committed crew members and workers who are among the best at what they do,” said President, and CEO, Royal Caribbean International, Michael Bayley.

“Our teams have worked under difficult conditions but in a very united way to finally make major changes that enhanced the ship performance,” said Laurent Castaing, general manager, Chantiers de l’Atlantique. “Wonder is really an outstanding new ship.”

At 236,857 tons, “Wonder of the Seas” is nearly 4% bigger than its sister ship, “Symphony of the Seas.” The Wonder is now the largest cruise ship in the world. The newest Oasis will officially debut in Fort Lauderdale on March 4th. It will conduct a series of seven-night Caribbean cruises before relocating to the Mediterranean in May. She will sail from Barcelona and Rome in Europe before returning to Florida in November for cruises from Port Canaveral.

Royal Caribbean’s Oasis Class

The world’s largest cruise ships boast more than 16 decks and 20 restaurants. They each have 7 distinct neighborhoods bustling with unique onboard experiences and endless thrills to discover around every corner. Each ship serves up expeditions filled with excitement drenched slides and rides along with shows that transcend the stage. Oasis encourages you to experience gourmet globetrotting from Italy to Wonderland.
