Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. announced Monday it had reached an agreement with French shipbuilder Chantiers de l’Atlantique to order a sixth Oasis-class ship scheduled for delivery in the fall of 2023.
Royal Caribbean’s latest ship order is contingent upon financing, which the cruise line expects to complete in the second or third quarter of 2019. The company’s fifth Oasis-Class ship is due for delivery in spring 2021.

“It is such a pleasure to announce the order of another Oasis-class ship,” Royal Caribbean CEO Richard D. Fain said. “This order is a reflection of the exceptional performance of this vessel class and the extraordinary partnership between Chantiers de l’Atlantique and Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd.”
“This is the twenty-third cruise ship that RCL will be building at our shipyard, and we are especially proud of it,” Chantiers de l’Atlantique General Manager Laurent Castaing said. “The order reflects the confidence our customer puts on us, based on the exceptional quality of our long-term co-operation between the two companies and on our capacity to bring innovative solutions to meet our customer’s expectations.”
The cruise line started the year by achieving several honors at the 2019 Travvy Awards, including a gold statuette as the Best Cruise Line – Overall; Best Cruise Line – Contemporary; Best Cruise Entertainment; and Best Cruise Line in the U.S./Canada and the Caribbean/Bahamas.
Royal Caribbean also won at the Travvy Awards for Best Cruise Line for Families and LGBTQ travelers.
