Storm Ali Rips Cruise Ship From Moorings in Scotland

It’s unclear how many people were aboard the ship, The Nautica, when it was ripped from its moorings.

Business Insider reported that the ship had been docked in Greenock. A spokesman for the cruise company told the news organization that nobody has been injured but did not specify how many people were on board.

The company did say that 478 guests and 26 crew members were ashore at the time. The ship is capable of accommodating about 800 people.

The Nautica was about half-way through a 12-day cruise when the incident occurred.

According to the latest reports, the ship is currently stuck away from the coast in an inlet.

“Tugs have been called in to assist and the vessel is currently being held off of her berth,” the spokesman told Business Insider.

The BBC reported that Storm Ali has killed two people so far as severe winds batter the British Isles.
