Sun Princess Debuts New Features After Dry Dock

Sun Princess has emerged from a two-week, multimillion-dollar dry dock in Singapore. The ship’s new enhancements are part of Princess Cruises’ “Come Back New Promise,” a commitment to invest more than $450 million in fleetwide upgrades.

Sun Princess will operate in Southeast Asia before returning to Australia for the 2019 winter season. She’ll sail the western coast of Australia before transitioning to its eastern coast as well as New Zealand cruises.

“Southeast Asia, Australia, and New Zealand have always had an allure for travelers, and cruising is one of the best ways to explore this part of the world,” said Jan Swartz, Princess Cruises president. “We are thrilled to provide guests sailing the regions with our newest onboard features that enhance their cruise experience while sailing this beautiful part of the world.”

During the dry dock, Sun Princess received the iconic Princess Cruises logo. Additional upgrades include new Club Class Mini-Suites. The premium stateroom category features VIP amenities and Club Class Dining, a reserved dining area with expedited seating and an expanded menu. Club Class passengers also receive priority embarkation and disembarkation.

The ship’s Camp Discovery Youth & Teen Center has been reimagined as part of the line’s Discovery at SEA program. Renovated onboard boutiques will now offer accessories from Burberry, Coach, Longchamp and other high-end brands.

Highlights of Sun Princess’ winter schedule include a four-day Australia Getaway departing on January 5, 2019. The itinerary features a maiden call to Moreton Island off the coast of Queensland. It’s one of the largest sand islands in the world.

Additionally, Sun Princess passengers will have the chance to see the legendary dragons of Komodo in 2019. The ship will call on Indonesia’s Komodo Island during a 15-day sailing departing December 23, 2019.
