A Slice of Paradise in the Dominican Republic

Travelers are often looking for unique destinations to travel too—remote islands with gorgeous vistas and places that have an off the beaten path feel while still offering modern accommodations for a comfortable stay.

Cap Cana, an area located on the eastern side of the Dominican Republic, offers visitors long white sand beaches to stroll and an overall relaxing atmosphere. Couples looking to celebrate romance will find it in this secluded area on the island.

It’s an ideal place for a honeymoon or anniversary trip, and this location works great for destination wedding groups since it’s conveniently located a short 15 minutes from the Punta Cana International Airport. Wedding guests won’t have to travel too far upon arrival on the island.

Visitors love the quiet, relaxing vibe Cap Cana has, but there are also plenty of activities to enjoy for those people who can’t seem to spend too much of the day soaking in the sun on a lounge chair.

One of the Caribbean’s finest Jack Nicklaus golf courses, Punta Espada, is in this area, and some of the more adventurous activities available include zip lining, a waterfall expedition and exploring a cave.

Those who enjoy the water will love taking walks along the beach and dipping their toes in. The snorkeling and fishing are both excellent in this area, and for an unforgettable experience, visitors will want to take an evening sail on a yacht from the Cap Cana Marina to enjoy a picturesque sunset.

Sanctuary Cap Cana is one of Playa Hotels & Resorts adults-only properties, and it’s conveniently located in this private retreat. The resort’s décor has a Spanish Colonial architecture look with wood accents and tropical furnishing. There are a variety of suites and villas to choose from—all are spacious and have either a terrace or balcony outside.

In addition to the five restaurants located on property, guests also have access to Sanctuary Town, a foodie hotspot with bars, restaurants, food trucks and live entertainment. The area is open to guests of Sanctuary Cap Cana as well as to the public, and it’s the only area within the resort where children are welcome.

The entertainment at Sanctuary Town includes a circus, a karaoke night, live jazz, rock n roll music and and DJ parties. The resort’s evening entertainment also includes beach parties, bonfires and a nightclub. Although there are many quiet and relaxing areas throughout the resort, there is also plenty to do to keep guests busy at all hours of the day and night.

Keep the lovely area of Cap Cana in mind the next time you’re looking for a unique location to visit for your Caribbean vacation.
