Awesome 4th of July Travel Deals and Celebrations

While fireworks are a standard part of most July 4th celebrations, that’s not the only way to mark America’s independence.

Restaurants, hotels and destinations around the country (and the world) are offering a variety of all-American deals and festivities that have no shortage of holiday staples including classic beer and burgers, a wing chow down and even traditional colonial attire at the country’s longest ongoing celebration.

MORE Hotel & Resort

Here are some of the notable events around the country.

Adventures on the Gorge, Fayetteville, West Virginia

Busy on July 4? Head to Adventures on the Gorge, an adventure resort in Fayetteville, West Virginia, on July 3 for a family carnival and exploding fireworks over the New River Gorge.

The Family Carnival is open to the public from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and will feature games, bouncy houses, all-American grilled classics, music, relay races, watermelon eating contests for kids and adults, as well as a cherry pit spitting contest.

Stick around after the carnival for a free, over-the-top firework show with the picturesque New River Gorge as the backdrop.

Dueling Barges Firework Show, New Orleans

It’s no secret New Orleans knows how to party.

Celebrate Independence Day watching one of the best firework shows in the country. The Dueling Barges Firework Show sets up along the Mississippi River for a spectacular free show at 9 p.m.

Barges will position themselves between Gov. Nichols St. Wharf and the Canal St. Dock with patriotic music for all to enjoy.

Pod 39 Rooftop, New York City

Skip the crowds on the FDR this year and catch Macy’s 4th of July fireworks show high above the streets of New York City at the Pod 39 Rooftop.

Tickets for the Salvation Taco 4th of July Rooftop Party are $25 per person and include exclusive access to the rooftop from 6 p.m. until 11 p.m. and specials on food and drinks.

Guests staying Pod 39 will also receive a free drink voucher, which can be picked up at the front desk with the purchase of a ticket.

Hyatt Regency Aruba Resort Spa and Casino

Being out of the country doesn’t necessarily mean you can’t celebrate the 4th of July in high-style. This Independence Day, Hyatt Regency Aruba Resort Spa and Casino will be the only property on Aruba hosting celebrations for American guests.

A special menu created just for the holiday is being offered that includes a barbecue station featuring whiskey grilled baby back ribs, maple-mustard glazed chicken, carved beer-braised brisket, and classic American fare such as burgers, baked potatoes, Kosher hot dogs and all the fixings. Prices range from $48 for adults to $24 for kids five to 12 years old. Children under four years old eat for free.

The Chester, Gansevoort Meatpacking NYC

Celebrate the holiday with American summer classics at The Chester, located within Gansevoort Meatpacking NYC. For the entire day, The Chester will be offering cheeseburgers (sliders for $14 and with fries for $19), kosher hot dogs (with fries for $14) and buffalo wings ($.75 per wing or 12 wings for $9). There will also be buckets of beer (six of any kind for $36), Gansevoort’s signature Frosé or a passion fruit mojito ($17 per glass or $52 per pitcher).

The entertainment throughout the day and night will be in the form of classic summer flicks, like National Lampoon’s Vacation, Sandlot, Grease and more, which will be played at the bar. End the night at Gansevoort’s rooftop to catch a glimpse of the various firework displays across New York City.

Hyatt Ziva Cancun

This July 4th the all-inclusive family resort Hyatt Ziva Cancun is offering a bit of freedom for mom and dad during the day followed by a night of fun for the whole family.

In the morning, the Kidz Club will offer crafting with recyclable materials for kids followed by a donut contest and lunch.

For adults, an array of activities will be offered during the day including water volleyball, beach aerobics, a hot dog eating contest, American football and a live DJ by the pool.

Come evening, the Cancun resort will host an All-American BBQ at Sahara Beach with a live rock band followed by a shimmering fireworks show, all in a nod to America’s independence.

2018 Gold Camp Jubilee Days in Lead, South Dakota

Enjoy the largest fireworks show in the Black Hills above the impressive Homestake Mine. The mine was the largest and deepest gold mine in North America until it closed in 2002, and in total produced more than 40 million troy ounces (approximately 1.25 million kilograms) of gold.

On July 4th at dusk, fireworks are launched from the interior of the open-cut surface mine. Throughout the day, enjoy live entertainment, vendors, family-friendly activities and the small town charm of Lead’s historic Main Street.

Gasparilla Inn & Club, Lee County, Florida

Often referred to as the “preppiest place on earth,” the coastal island of Boca Grande exudes an old-Florida style of elegant charm and history. The vibrant island hideaway attracts discerning travelers, a favorite getaway with the Bush family, Harrison Ford, and notoriously private Katherine Hepburn.

Located on the outskirts of town is the century-old Gasparilla Inn & Club, an iconic resort decorated in pink-trellis patterns, palm fronds and white wicker. The property is offering a star-spangled stay with a July 4th Package. Rates start at $245 per night and include a host of special activities and events like sand sculpting, beach games and fireworks.

Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia

What better place to celebrate the anniversary of our nation’s birth than Colonial Williamsburg? An epic Independence Day destination, Colonial Williamsburg was where founding fathers like George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Patrick Henry and George Mason established and instituted the principles and policies that led to the founding of our nation. Experience an immersive 4th of July experience, where the best traditions of past and present meet and mingle in America’s most magical historic city.

From fireworks like you’ve never experienced them to readings of the Declaration of Independence, the American spirit fills every block. Throughout the day there are special patriotic programs in the village’s interpretive venues including a firing of muskets and cannons and a salute to the 13 original colonies.

With admission kids can play colonial games at Patriots at Play and experience a new form of hands-on, 18th-century education at the Ax Range. Visit the iconic courthouse, capital and public armory of the 18th-century capital city, and relive and examine the moment Virginia said ‘yes’ to American Independence in the new thought-provoking, diverse and playful museum experience “Resolved.” There will also be unforgettable performances from Colonial Williamsburg Fifes and Drums.
