Hilton Expands Presence in Morocco

Hilton is significantly expanding its presence in Morocco.

The hotel company recently signed a deal to open a property in 2022 in the country’s capital of Rabat, which is just the latest in a string of developments either in the pipeline or already open.

Last year, according to Hotel Management, Hilton opened two hotels in the Moroccan city of Tangier—The Hilton Garden Inn Tanger City Center and the Hilton Tanger City Hotel & Residences.

Three more Hilton hotels are in the midst of construction in Al Houara, Taghazout Bay, and Casablanca.

The Taghazout Bay property is a $33 million venture that will result in a 170 guest room Hilton Taghazout Bay Beach Resort & Spa. The project is being developed with Société d’Aménagement et de Promotion de la Station de Taghazout.

As for the newly announced 150-room Rabat property, it will be part of the Wessal Bouregreg project, a master development that includes residential, entertainment and cultural offerings. The hotel will also be located in close proximity to a shopping mall and the Grand Theatre of Rabat.

Further underscoring the company’s focus on the Moroccan market, in April, Hilton opened a development office in the city of Casablanca to coordinate expansion of its North African presence, according to Hotel Management.

The company’s first hotel in the region was the Hilton Garden Inn Casablanca Sidi Maaarouf, which opened in 2017.
