Las Vegas Casino Issues Apology to Rapper Meek Mill

Rapper Meek Mill wasn’t necessarily looking for a “Bag Of Money,” as the title of a hit song he’s featured in suggests.

He just wanted an apology, and that’s what he got from a Las Vegas hotel and casino.

The rapper accused the Cosmopolitan Hotel of racial discrimination last Saturday, May 25, after he was not allowed entry into the property’s popular Day Club, an outdoor party with music and food set against the backdrop of the famed summer pool scene in Vegas. The Cosmopolitan told Mill and his entourage that they were already at capacity.

The 32-year old has received and accepted an apology from the hotel, which released a statement on Friday.

“We apologize to Meek Mill for how we handled the situation on Saturday, May 25, as we did not act in a respectful manner and were wrong,” the Cosmopolitan said. “Meek Mill has not had any prior incidents on our property. The Cosmopolitan has zero tolerance for discrimination and we pride ourselves on providing an inclusive environment. We look forward to welcoming Meek Mill back to the resort.”

It took less than a day for the rapper to accept.

Meek has just accepted the Cosmopolitan’s apology. His lawyer, “We appreciate the Cosmopolitan’s apology and will no longer pursue legal recourse at this time,” his celebrity lawyer, Joe Tacopina, told TMZ.

TMZ also had video of the encounter where Mill was told he could not enter the Day Club.

Mill and Tacopina have both claimed there is unspoken collusion among Las Vegas hotels to keep African-American rappers off their respective properties to avoid a so-called gang element.

The Cosmopolitan has denied the accusations.

Despite the shooting death of rapper Tupac Shakur on the Las Vegas Strip in 1996—a vendetta killing made significantly more high-profile given Shakur’s attendance at a championship boxing match that night—there has been no tangible evidence linking rap stars and violence in the city.
