Motto by Hilton Breaks Ground in Atlanta

Hilton has broken ground on one of the first new-build properties to operate under the company’s new Motto by Hilton flag. The groundbreaking ceremony for the Motto by Hilton Atlanta Old Fourth Ward took place with fanfare on November 14, with the 146-room hotel slated to open in 2021.

“As we build on Motto by Hilton’s unique take on today’s lifestyle hotel experience with efficient micro-guest rooms, linking rooms for group travel, innovative technology, vibrant communal space and locally inspired design and food and beverage offerings, we are excited to celebrate this groundbreaking moment in Atlanta’s Old Fourth Ward,” said Tripp McLaughlin, global brand head, Motto by Hilton.

Hilton also announced that six additional properties have been confirmed to operate under the Motto flag in the American including hotels in New York City(Brooklyn and Chelsea); Indianapolis; Lima, Peru; Savannah, and Washington D.C. Hilton also reports there are 20 additional active development leads in ten countries.

“Since launching Motto by Hilton last year, our expansion in the U.S. and abroad is a testament to our incredible partners, owners and the development community,” said Ian Carter, president, global development, architecture, design and construction, Hilton. “We are committed to presenting a fresh and affordable option for travelers in the most sought-after urban destinations.”

Hilton unveiled plans for Motto in late 2018. Motto is designed with “small but clever” micro rooms targeted at younger travelers seeking modestly priced accommodations in vibrant urban neighborhoods without “the typical hotel fuss.” Modular guest rooms range in design from cozy doubles to murphy beds or rooms that easily connect for traveling groups.

Guests at Motto will also be able to take advantage of Hilton’s Connected Room technology, using their device to stream content to room televisions, control temperature and lighting, and access their room using a digital key.

In the hotel’s public spaces, guests will find Motto Commons, where a morning coffee bar will turn into cocktails and shared plates in the evenings, or coffee and snacks to go any time of the day or night.

One of the brand pillars of Motto by Hilton is “Inviting and Local”, and Atlanta’s Old Fourth Ward is home to some of the city’s best-known landmarks, including Martin Luther King Jr.’s childhood home, Ebenezer Baptist Church and the Jimmy Carter Library and Museum. Commonly referred to as the “O4W,” attractions include Ponce City Market, Edgewood Avenue nightlife, access to the Atlanta BeltLine’s Eastside trail, street art, local markets and dining.

The first Motto by Hilton planned for opening to guests is the Motto by Hilton Washington D.C. City Center, currently planned for early 2020.
