Is an All-Inclusive Resort for You?

Whether you’re traveling alone, as a couple or taking a family vacation with young children, staying at an all-inclusive resort is a great way to make your vacation stress-free.

With an all-inclusive resort, you won’t lose valuable vacation time trying to figure out where to go for meals or finding things to do. You’ll have everything you need to enjoy your trip on the resort property, from dining and activities to spa treatments and wellness experiences. You just have to unpack and relax.

Another advantage is the ability to control costs. It’s easier to stick to a budget for your trip when the major expenditures — for accommodations, meals and beverages — are contained in a charge that you pay up-front.

Here are a few examples of all-inclusive resorts in the United States, Canada and the Caribbean:

Twin Farms is an adults-only resort nestled in the countryside of central Vermont. You’ll find miles of trails for hiking and biking amid 300 acres of woods, meadows, mountains and a private pond where you can go canoeing, kayaking, fishing or swimming. Meals are prepared with ingredients from local farms, dairies and orchards, as well as produce from the resort’s gardens. Accommodations include freestanding cottages, each with a fireplace and screened porch.

The Miraval Arizona Resort and Spa, in Tucson, is also for adults only. It’s set in the Sonoran Desert with a backdrop of the Santa Catalina Mountains. You’ll be asked to unplug your digital devices, limiting their use to designated locations, so that you can participate free of distractions. By choosing from an extensive list of daily activities —including yoga, meditation, fitness, outdoor adventures, spa treatments, well-being lectures and cooking classes — you can tailor your stay to your own interests.

A 50-minute flight from Vancouver, Sonora Resort Canada is a family-friendly destination that offers a wilderness experience with opulent comfort. Activities include salmon fishing, guided hikes and ecological tours where you may spot eagles, grizzly bears, sea lions and orca whales. There’s also a tennis court, movie theater and nine-hole putting green. After a full day, you can relax with a spa treatment or soak in a mineral pool. Meals include fresh seafood paired with organic produce and world-class wines.

Jumby Bay Island, a seven-minute boat ride off the coast of Antigua, is a secluded haven in the Caribbean that’s ideal for the whole family. You’ll find everything you need to explore the outdoors, from bicycles to snorkeling gear. A program for children ages 3 to 11 includes activities like Wildlife and Ocean Adventures, Discover Science and Pirates of the Caribbean. Young guests can also take part in a program to safeguard the island’s endangered Hawksbill turtles.

If you’re looking for a well-known all-inclusive don’t forget about Sandles Resorts & Beaches.
