Museums have reopened, the performing arts are back onstage and parks are showing off their brilliant autumn colors, making it a great time to plan a trip to London.
Here’s some of what you can look forward to this fall.
First, cruises have returned to London! Norwegian Cruise Line’s newest ship the Norwegian Prima is set to sail from London, through Europe and travel toward Iceland. Booking with JetSetGO pays off, too! Just for booking with JetSetGO you can receive up to $200 FREE money to spend on your trip. Visit the Norwegian page and scroll down to The Norwegian Prime to find dates that qualify for the free cash.
Royal London has reopened, too. You can experience the pageantry that comes with the Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. At the palace’s Queen’s Gallery, a rotating selection of items from the Royal Collection features paintings, furniture, decorative arts and photography. And you can get a glimpse of the Crown Jewels at the Tower of London.
Last year marked the return of two annual food-and-drink events. The London Restaurant Festival’s fall edition includes menus designed by some of the city’s leading chefs, restaurant-hopping tours, tastings and master classes. During London Cocktail Week, which this year lasts a month, you can try specially priced signature drinks in more than 250 bars across the city.
November saw the beginning of the holiday season in London with the opening of Christmas markets. One of the biggest is Winter Wonderland, in Hyde Park, running from Nov. 19 to Jan. 3 and featuring a huge selection of vendors, entertainment and activities. It’s also the month when Warner Bros. Studio transforms the Harry Potter film sets for the winter.
When you’re ready for fresh air and a walk, you’ll find lots of choices among London’s parks. Regent’s Park is home to the London Zoo, Queen Mary’s Gardens and more than a hundred species of birds. In Hyde Park, you’ll find a number of monuments and memorials including a fountain dedicated to Diana, Princess of Wales, and Speakers’ Corner, a traditional site for public debate since the 19th century. The meadows and woodlands of Hampstead Heath offer a respite from the hustle and bustle of central London, and you’ll be treated to a spectacular view of the city’s skyline.
