How to Avoid Post-Vacation Regret

Vacations are the best time of the year. No matter when you go, the feeling of freedom and possibilities that being on vacation, away from work and stress, is tough to beat. But there always comes an end to even the greatest vacations, and that is when post vacation regret can sink in. There are lots of reasons why you might feel a tinge of regret at the end of your vacation, and luckily almost all of them are in your control. Here are three tips to help you avoid post vacation regret.

Get All Your Tasks Done Before

Most people have done this before. You get back from the airport after your vacation and open your front door and are hit with… instant stress. The house is a mess, dishes have piled up, crumbs everywhere, and you have three work assignments all due in the next 48 hours that you haven’t started yet. Don’t let this be you, it is a great way to cause tons of regret right after your vacation. Make sure that you take care of any tasks you will need to accomplish after you return so that you aren’t setting yourself up with a mountain of work when you return. Do a thorough cleaning before you leave so that you come home to a clean home and get as much work done ahead of time as possible.

Make Healthy Choices

It can be tempting when on vacation to forget about healthy eating and just eat anything you feel like. But this is a terrible choice if you want to avoid post vacation regret. You can easily come home with a few extra pounds of fat after a vacation if you aren’t careful, and vacation weight is not easy to get rid of. Try to make some slightly healthier choices when on vacation, you don’t have to be perfect, but try and make just a few healthier choices where you can. For instance, local pizza tends to be healthier than fast food varieties. Even a swap as simple as that can help you feel better about your trip after.

Plan Important Stops Ahead of Time

There are few things as bad for post vacation regret than not getting to do all the activities you wanted to. If you are going on vacation and not a few things that you absolutely want to do while you are there, then you should plan ahead. Buy tickets ahead of time for excursions and exhibits, and decide ahead of time to get in. You don’t want to feel like you missed out on an important part of your vacation because you forgot to plan.

Who doesn’t love a good vacation? When you have a splendid vacation, you feel amazing when you return, but if you neglected some planning, you may come home with regrets. Avoid post vacation regret with these three tips.
