How to Optimize Your Vehicle for an Outdoor Adventure

There is no better way to experience the outdoors than by taking your vehicle out for an adventure. However, before setting off into the wilderness, you must make sure that you are fully prepared for all its surprises and thrills. Therefore, here are some of the best ways to optimize your vehicle for getting off the beaten path.

Upgrade the Suspension

Off-roading can certainly provide you with all the thrills and adrenaline needed to make your outdoor trip that much better. However, those thrills come at a price. Your vehicle’s suspension is certainly going to take a beating. If you’re considering building your ride for this activity, take some time to choose the right suspension. The upgrade will essentially raise the body and frame of your vehicle, create extra clearance and allow for greater vertical wheel movement and bigger tires.

Remove the Top of Your Vehicle

One of the best ways to enhance your outdoor experience is to feel the elements around you. Riding through new terrain is great, but it’s just not the same without sensing the wind and warm sun on your skin. Of course, the best way to achieve this is to remove the top of your vehicle, if you have a compatible vehicle like a Jeep. There are a couple of different ways to remove your Jeep’s top so you can enjoy the fresh air while driving. Most Jeeps have a removable hardtop. These are both fairly awkward to handle and somewhat fragile, so they are usually left in place. However, once you do manage to remove your Jeep’s top, the reward will definitely be worth the effort. These may be removed with hoisting systems that can be attached to your garage, or you may utilize a free-standing hoist.

Add a Hitch

When it comes to an outdoor adventure, you have to be prepared for everything. One of the best things you can add to your vehicle is a hitch. Incorporating a hitch allows you to not only utilize the back of your car to carry other accessories such as bikes, small grills and backpacks, but it can also be used to tow another vehicle. If you are planning to go off-roading, you may find that this necessity arises at least once during your trip.

Hitting the old trail for an adventure is a great way to experience the outdoors. It’s also your opportunity to appreciate your vehicle’s capabilities. However, before you set off on your trip, there are a few additions you should consider. Use the ideas listed above to begin crafting your own list of things you may want to add to your ride.
