Ireland’s Aer Lingus Unveils Fresh New Look

Are Lingus has presented a brand refresh which includes a new logo, aircraft design, website, app, airport check-in areas, boarding gates and more.

Fun fact: more than 50 (yes 50!) shamrock designs were considered during the rebrand process, leading to the finalized new Aer Lingus logo, intact with shamrock hearts to reflect the brand’s warmth and hospitality.

If you’re flying transatlantic, Aer Lingus has become well known for their low fares and hospitality. Check them out from these 15 North American Destinations*:

  • New York, JFK

  • Newark, New Jersey

  • Boston

  • Washington, DC

  • Hartford, Connecticut

  • Philadelphia

  • Orlando, Florida

  • Miami, Florida

  • Chicago

  • Los Angeles

  • San Francisco

  • Seattle

  • Minneapolis St. Paul (new route beginning July 2019)

  • Toronto

  • Montréal (new route beginning August 2019)

*Both Boston and New York, JFK operate from Shannon as well as Dublin

airline’s position as a modern and contemporary Irish brand that competes on the international stage. The new logo retains but restyles the iconic shamrock, adding a tilt to symbolise dynamism and speed, with heart-shaped leaves reflecting the warmth and hospitality of the brand. The new Aer Lingus aircraft livery carries four shamrocks – the first is within the new logo, the second sits on the tailfin, a third welcomes guests at the door, and a final surprise on the wingtip is in prime position for capturing on social media. The new brand identity supports Aer Lingus’ ambition to be the leading value carrier across the North Atlantic. Picture Credit: Frank Grealish

More to come

Later in 2019, the airline will also introduce new uniforms to be worn by Aer Lingus staff and brand new aircraft will continue to enter service with the carrier as well.

Mike Rutter, Chief Operating Officer, Aer Lingus adds:

“The Aer Lingus brand has evolved significantly over the last number of years. Since 2015, we’ve invested in our business, improving our value proposition and overall guest experience and becoming Ireland’s only four star airline.  Innovations we have introduced include the roll-out of WiFi on our A330s, automated check-in and bag drop at Dublin Airport, Business Class improvement with fully lie-flat beds and economy catering upgrades. We’ve also enhanced our performance to become the most punctual airline at Dublin Airport.

We conducted extensive guest research across Ireland, Europe & North America to inform every key stage of the process to ensure that the brand revealed today is reflective of our value carrier positioning.  This research confirmed the importance of our shamrock – the Irish emblem has been at the heart of the Aer Lingus brand for more than 80 years, and we made the shamrock ‘hearts’ more pronounced to reflect our hospitality and service.

The new look Aer Lingus livery consolidates our position as a modern, contemporary Irish airline on the international stage, but also allows guests who have always loved our brand to maintain a positive affiliation.”
