Why You Should Vacation on the Coast This Summer

The coasts are famously an international attraction for tourists and people looking to get away. And with good reason too! If you’ve been looking to relax and take a break from the chaos of normal everyday life, here are a few excuses for you to take the plunge.

Nice Weather

The weather on the coast is going to depend a lot on geography. But you actually have a really nice selection to pick from! The majority of beautiful, sunny beaches are in tropical places like Florida, Hawai’i, Mexico, and various islands of the Caribbean. But there are also beautiful and underappreciated beaches in Brazil, Chile, and even places like Oregon. It may not be sunny there, but the overcast skies and the crashing waves create its own unique kind of coast. New England offers a similar ambiance, with lighthouses and crags providing the ideal environment for tide pooling and rock-hopping. The tropics, on the other hand, have those sands, crystal blue waves, surfing conditions, and vitamin D-rich sunlight that you crave.

Swim in the Ocean

No matter where you are, the ocean offers a wealth of discovery. The ocean is really a phenomenon – a whole different world underneath our view of the blue waves. It can be explored with little to no preparation. On the other hand, it can also be explored with advanced equipment that opens up that world to your view. If you’re looking for a cheap option, don’t be afraid to take to the waves with nothing but a swimsuit! You can also get a boogie board or surfboard for relatively cheap. If you want to spend a little more, you can get snorkeling or scuba gear for cursory exploration and viewing of exotic fish, corals, and marine life. Be careful, though – keeping to yourself can help protect you from dangers in the ocean.

Culture

Inevitably, with the constant traffic from tourists and visitors, coastlines are where towns and cities develop. Often, this is with the explicit economic hope that you will explore what they have to offer as well. Coasts become centers of tourism and culture. No matter where you are, if you’re on a popular coast, you can likely also find museums, art shows, restaurants of local cuisine, and so much more that can help teach you about the locality.

No matter what you’re looking for, the coast has something to offer you. That might be sun, it might be waves, it might be an adventure – but it will be there. Pull up a map, find the beach that is calling your names, and get out there before it’s too late!
