TSA to Allow Medicinal CBD Oil Approved by FDA

With the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approving Cannabidiol (CBD) medication, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has updated its policies to reflect the changes.

According to FoxNews.com, TSA officials revealed they were made aware of a medication prescribed for pediatric epilepsy that contains CBD, which was approved by the FDA. As soon as the agency learned of the drug, its “What Can I Bring” section on the TSA website was updated accordingly.

The updated website now says that CBD products approved by the FDA will be legal, as long as the medications are produced within the regulations defined by the law under the Agriculture Improvement Act 2018.

The CBD oils do come with special instructions, though, as possession of marijuana, certain cannabis-infused products and some CBD oil products remain illegal under federal law and security officers will call on local law enforcement to handle.

TSA officials said agents would be briefed on the new policy regarding the FDA-approved drug.
