Big Five Implements New Tours Across Egypt

WHY IT RATES: As additional areas in Egypt are opening up to tourists, Big Five is constantly adding more tours and new excursions for visitors to enjoy. —Codie Liermann, Senior Editor

Big Five Tours & Expeditions has long taken travelers across the extraordinary ancient lands of Egypt. It continues this tradition with exciting new adventures that offer new routes and experiences. With the recent grand opening of the National Museum of Civilizations and the upcoming opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum, Big Five has worked diligently on the ground to find the optimized routes to explore these new major attractions.

“With the anticipated growth in tourism once the GEM opens, our team has literally been driving between the sites around Cairo on practice runs, timing traffic patterns and choosing the best ways to combine each area without sitting in traffic. Our itineraries have been updated with the excursions grouped in optimal order based on our own test experiences,” said Ashish Sanghrajka, resident of Big Five.

Avoiding major traffic areas and minimizing the need to switch hotels allows travelers to spend less time getting to the sites and more time delving into Egypt’s rich history and culture in locations such as Dahshur, which features some of Egypt’s oldest sights.

At the same time, Big Five has seen an increase in travelers preferring to explore Luxor to Aswan by road, stopping at the major locations like Edfu and Kom Ombo along the way. Travelers are spending more time on ground in Aswan and Luxor, which are so rich in culture and history that they deserve more than a quick stop. The Valley of the Kings and the Valley of the Queens, alone, encompass at least 173 tombs of not only pharaohs, but esteemed nobles and their families as well. With the extra time that these changes create, Big Five guests enjoy more time for excursions from hot air balloon rides over Luxor to dinner aboard a private Felucca from Aswan, which are only recommended with multi-night stays.

“The world’s attention was recently focused on Egypt as the mesmerizing Pharaohs’ Golden Parade of Egyptian mummies moved through the streets of Cairo. It was one of those ‘where were you when’ moments,” added Sanghrajka.

With more areas of Egypt quickly expanding and opening up to tourists, Big Five is staying on top of these rapid changes by continuously adding more logistical routes and new excursions to the ever-growing options, making sure Egypt can be enjoyed in its entirety, from ancient culture to modern delights.
