Before the airport opened, a Youtube video was posted online titled “Waterfall in Jewel” that showed a stream of water that leaked from the ceiling into a store. A spokesperson at the time said the leakage was caused by a “sprinkler issue.”

Then on April 26, another video was posted by Loh Boon Kwang on Facebook showing water spraying from the ceiling and forming puddles on the floor at Jewel Changi Airport.

His caption read: “Jewel at Changi this morning heavy rain. Waterfall now reaches the mall.”

A spokesperson for the complex told CNA, “There was a sprinkler activation in Jewel at about 1 am this morning (26 April) which caused water leakage in various levels of Jewel.”

“The issue was quickly attended to and resolved with minimal impact to operations.”
