Canadian Airline, Swoop, Heading to the USA

Getting the travel industry out of the pandemic-induced slump requires innovation. Whether it is new ideas and new products or the expansion of products already on the market. Canadian low-cost airline, Swoop, looks to do its part with the latter. The airline announced yesterday the addition of the Canadian routes into the USA.

Swoop Announces Canadian Routes to the USA

The Canadian airline added five new destinations into the United States – New York, Chicago, Nashville, San Francisco, and Los Angeles. In addition, Swoop will extend its current seasonal services to San Diego, Palm Springs, Las Vegas, St. Pete-Clearwater, Orlando, and Phoenix into the summer season.

“As part of our planned growth in 2022, we’re excited to be adding five new popular U.S. destinations to our network,” said Head of Swoop’s Commercial & Finance, Bert van der Stege. “As Canada’s leading ultra-low-cost carrier, we are growing our fleet, expanding our network, and adding service to existing destinations to ensure we are ready to meet Canadian’s pent-up demand for travel experiences south of the border.”

Last week, Swoop announced they acquired six new Boeing MAX-8 aircraft. The move increased their fleet by 60%. Additionally, they added ten new domestic destinations. They continue their expansion to accommodate the expected boom to the tourist season.

COVID Concerns

Countries are slowly beginning to loosen the reigns on restrictions to vaccinated travelers. In response, the people who have buried their travel bug under a blanket to binge-watch travel series are packing bags.

“Outdated travel restrictions that were meant to be temporary, continue to severely impact the recovery of the travel and tourism sectors,” said van der Stege during the announcement. “Our airline is fully vaccinated, our travelers are fully vaccinated, and yet duplicative testing requirements continue to make travel unnecessarily expensive and inaccessible.”
