Porter Braswell, CEO and Co-Founder of Jopwell, thought leader on diversity and published author to join Ed Bastian for a conversation worth navigating.
Delta CEO Ed Bastian will welcome Porter Braswell, the CEO and co-founder of Jopwell, to the next episode of Gaining Altitude on Wednesday, Oct. 27, at 1 p.m.
Jopwell has forged partnerships with hundreds of America’s leading companies leveraging its HR tech platform that helps diverse students and professionals advance in their careers. The company has successfully facilitated tens of thousands of connections between people in the Jopwell community and those companies.
Braswell is the author of Let Them See You, offering insights into why it’s imperative for businesses to have a more diverse workforce and how employees can overcome obstacles.
Gaining Altitude is an enlightening series of conversations worth navigating, connecting people while building understanding around the globe. The one-on-one conversations with insightful leaders are hosted by Bastian. Topics include diversity, equity and inclusion, servant leadership, entrepreneurship, sustainability and mental health.
The conversation between the two CEOs will be a continuation of one started in January 2021, when Bastian joined a Harvard Business Review podcast hosted by Braswell. During that conversation, the pair discussed race at work with an emphasis on diversity, equity and inclusion.
“It’s not just the right thing to do – it’s also good business to be a diverse employer, to have people around you that look differently and that have different ideas,” Bastian said on the podcast. “Business leaders, historically, have been taught to keep their heads down, to not take on social topics and focus on the job. But businesses have a larger voice and a larger impact. I think it’s more imperative that we pick up that mantle and have the courage to speak.”
Braswell will be the fourth guest invited by Bastian to appear on Gaining Altitude. The series premiered featuring Tristan Walker, the founder and CEO of Walker and Company Brands and the founder of the non-profit Code2040.
Entrepreneurship and the importance of failure, service and the role empathy plays in business were the topics discussed in Gaining Altitude’s second episode featuring Danny Meyer, the CEO and founder of Union Square Hospitality Group and founder of Shake Shack.
Sustainability, all-electric ambitions, building up young women and personal reflections on leadership during challenging times were the highlights of Bastain’s conversation with General Motors Chair and CEO Mary Barra in the most recent episode of Gaining Altitude.
