Disneyland is Set to Reopen on April 30

The “happiest place on earth” was closed temporarily for a year when the pandemic started in the US. On April 30, Disneyland will reopen to the public. According to Disney’s blog, “Magic is finally returning to the Disneyland Resort theme parks”. However, Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure park are only going to operate under limited capacity.

Theme parks can only accept guests at 15% capacity under the guidelines. On top of that, only California residents can buy tickets. Disneyland and Resort announced that it is going to have a “theme park reservation system” that will require visitors to schedule their visit in advance.

Among attractions that you can expect from Disneyland include Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, and the Incredicoaster. Disneyland will also offer new attractions to their guests. This includes the highly anticipated Snow White’s Enchanted Wish which will open for the first time on April 30.

Disney CEO Bob Chapek said that he is “absolutely thrilled” about reopening their gates to the public. He said that “it’s been a long, long time since we’ve been able to create magic for our guests”. Chapek added that “it’s going to be a great opportunity for us to bring that magic back to everybody involved”.

Never Full

Chapek said that the state reopening limit of 15% capacity will be followed. There will also be protocols upon entering the amusement park such as temperature checks, mask requirements, hygiene measures, and applying social distancing. He said that Disney never operates at full fire code capacity. However, no exact number of guests was specified.

Chapek also discussed the strong demand coming from potential guests. He said that “we’ve been operating at Walt Disney World now for about nine months. There is certainly no shortage of demand”.

Phased Reopening

Disneyland will first be open to employees and local community members. Disneyland Resort hotels are also going to be allowed to accept guests again. And as part of the phased reopening, Disney Grand Californian Hotel & Spa are opening April 29 also at limited capacity.
