EasyJet Pilot Convicted for Flying While High on Ecstasy

A French pilot for easyJet has received a 12-month suspended sentence due to an incident in which he flew and landed a plane after consuming one-third of a pill of ecstasy. The pilot was arrested after authorities tapped his phone and found a conversation between him and a drug ring member in which he recounts the difficult plane landing.

Speaking on the incident, easyJet released a statement: “As a first officer he would always have flown under the command of an experienced easyJet Captain and had any Captain he flew with seen behaviour suggesting drug use or any other safety breaches on this pilot’s flights we would have taken immediate action and stood the first officer down from duty.”
