The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has decided to extend the federal mask mandate for planes, airports and trains. According to two people familiar with the decision, which was first reported by the AP, the decision would allow the CDC to monitor a recent uptick in cases.
The current mandate was set to expire April 18, 2022 but has been extended two additional weeks to May 3, 2022.
Due to the recent uptick in cases, Philadelphia and numerous colleges in Washington DC have already reinstated their mask mandates.
Many of the nation’s airlines have pushed hard to have the government lift the mandate.
