A family is extremely grateful to JetBlue crew members who acted quickly to provide an oxygen mask for a dog that was having trouble breathing.
According to ABC11.com, Michele Burt was on a JetBlue flight from Florida to Massachusetts Thursday when her three-year-old French bulldog named Darcy’s tongue turned blue and her breathing became laborious.
One of the flight attendants, Renaud Fenster, also owns a French Bulldog and saw what was happening to Darcy. At first, crew members provided ice for the dog to ease the animal from potentially overheating, but it didn’t work.
Fenster and another attendant decided to call on the pilot and requested the use of an oxygen mask, which the captain approved. The mask was brought to Darcy, placed over her mouth and held there until the oxygen rejuvenated the animal.
An image of Darcy with the oxygen mask over her face was shared on Twitter:

The dog was reportedly suffering from the deadly hypoxia, but the quick action of the JetBlue crew potentially saved Darcy’s life. Once the dog became alert again, Burt thanked the attendants and has since spread the word on social media about their life-saving efforts.
“We all want to make sure everyone has a safe and comfortable fight, including those with four legs,” a JetBlue spokesperson told ABC News. “We’re thankful for our crew’s quick thinking and glad everyone involved was breathing easier when the plane landed in Worcester.”
