A plane traveling from Russia to Dubai was forced to make an emergency landing Saturday after several passengers became seriously ill, striking fear that they had been poisoned.

The captain was forced to call for an emergency landing in Volgograd, Russia, over an hour after takeoff after several passengers sitting between rows 21 and 26 in the economy cabin started to “turn green” and complain they were suffocating.

“I was woken by a young woman screaming for assistance. She yelled and screamed ‘Help, help!’ because her husband felt ill,” an unnamed passenger on the flight told The Sun. “He was feeling really bad. He was suffocating and he couldn’t breathe in. His face went the color green. Then a panic swept through the plane.”

The condition of the hospitalized travelers was not revealed.

The passengers treated on the scene were allowed to board with the remainder of the other travelers after airline officials cleared the plane of any mechanical issues. The flight departed once again for Dubai 2.5 hours after the emergency landing.
