Royal Caribbean Approved for New $300M Office Plan at PortMiami

Royal Caribbean officials have received approval on a deal that would allow the construction of a new office and parking garage near the site of the cruise line’s older facilities in Miami.

According to The Miami Herald, the Miami-Dade Tourism and Ports Committee passed a motion granting Royal Caribbean permission to build its new office and parking garage on Dodge Island, which would result in a workforce capacity increase from 2,200 to 4,200 employees.

The Miami Board of Commissioners will conduct a full vote on the deal in May.

The project includes a 10-story, 350,000-square-foot office building that would be built on the site of Royal Caribbean’s current parking lot. All of the vehicles owned by employees would then be shifted to a new garage built next to the office construction.

New York architecture firm HOK will handle the design of the facilities, which it says will look like a ship and feature Royal Caribbean’s giant crown logo emblazoned on the roof. The existing office building on the property will also be overhauled.

In total, the cruise line estimates the project will cost at least $300 million and believes the construction will be completed by October 2020. The renovation projects on the existing buildings are expected to be finished by fall 2021.
