United’s New All-in-One App Plans to Decongest Airports

There are countless airline apps that you can download on your phone, not to mention third-party apps. Most of these apps were primarily for buying tickets, boarding, and check-in. And with the COVID19 pandemic, lines are now longer. There’s more waiting time as airline employees need to check all documents first. But with technology, apps can make it more convenient and safer for passengers.

So what makes United’s app different? Its new app under the United Next program is an all-in-one app that can do everything for passengers. It can simplify the documents needed for traveling during the pandemic and more.

Decongesting Airports and Minimizing the Guess Work

United’s new all-in-one app will allow passengers to pre-order their meals and upload their passport and vaccination info. This will also contain all the latest restrictions that passengers need to know about their trip. According to United’s spokesperson Robert Einhorn, the app contains everything that passengers “need to know to navigate evolving COVID19 travel restrictions in one place”.

This app can simplify international travel for passengers. United director of digital products Anthony Cozzi said that “Every location is different”. He added that “We take the guess work out”.

With the app, it can help the passenger to skip long lines at the airport. They can get everything validated and know everything in advance.

If you are having a problem with your ticket, you can also use the app to contact an “agent on demand”. These app features will also be integrated with United’s website. The agent on demand feature on United’s all-in-one app allows passengers to contact an agent via video, text, or chat. These are actual people who are working at the airport and not outsourced elsewhere.

Additional 150 Flights

United expects the demand to increase. United already announced additional 150 flights by fall. This includes 25 daily flights from New York/Newark to Fort Myers, Jacksonville, Florida, Savannah, Georgia, and Barbados.

US Airlines are seeing more people traveling given the success of the vaccination rollout. Unfortunately, not all airlines were able to keep up. Some were airlines had labor shortage issues causing delays and flight cancelations. With United’s all-in-one app, it plans to make things more efficient for their employees. Plus, passengers get all the info on their phone.
