World’s Largest Cruise Ship, Wonder of The Seas, Will No Longer Debut in Asia

Royal Caribbean changed its plans for the Wonder of The Seas. The soon-to-be world’s largest cruise ship was scheduled to make its debut in Asia. Instead of sailing in China, the Wonder of the Seas will relocate to Fort Lauderdale, Florida. It will then sail to the Caribbean on March 4, 2022.

Included in The Wonder of the Seas itinerary will be Cozumel, St. Maarten, and San Juan Puerto Rico among others. From there, the ship will then relocate to Barcelona, Spain to offer summer Mediterranean cruises. It is going to visit ports such as Capri and Palma de Mallorca.

Odyssey of the Seas will also be in these regions by 2022. According to Royal Caribbean International CEO Michael Bayley, “The momentum taking off across bookings and our returning ships in the US and Europe is significant”.

He added that “With half of our fleet sailing again, we are encouraged by what we’re seeing. These regions are in the position to welcome a brand-new, innovative ship like the Wonder of the Seas”.

Oasis Class

Even if Royal Caribbean ships are known for their jaw-dropping size, the cruise line categorized its ships into six classes. The Wonder of the Seas falls under the Oasis Class. Included in this class are Oasis of the Seas, Allure of the Seas, Harmony of the Seas, and the Symphony of the Seas. These are some of the world’s largest cruise ships.

The Wonder of the Seas follows a neighborhood concept that includes an open-air Boardwalk, Central Park, and other areas where passengers can shop, drink, and dine. Royal Caribbean added another onboard neighborhood, The Suite Neighborhood, bringing it to a total of eight neighborhoods.

The Suite Neighborhood offers a private restaurant, a sun deck, plus a pool that comes with a dedicated bar. The Suite Neighborhood includes the largest Ultimate Family Suite that can hold up to 10 people.
