American Airlines flight 809 had to make an emergency landing at Wilmington International Airport (ILM) on Tuesday.
According to a report on WWAY News, the flight crew smelled electrical fumes in the cockpit.
The commercial Airbus A321 was traveling from Philadelphia to Orlando and carrying 178 passengers and a crew of six people and landed at 1:41 p.m.
Oxygen masks were deployed to the passengers and the pilots requested a diversion to ILM, according to the FAA.
Once the plane landed, passengers disembarked and American is sending another plane to take them to Orlando.
The plane is currently being inspected by a maintenance crew.
