Selma Blair Arrested After Attacking Flight Attendants and Trying to Open Plane Door Midflight

Actress Selma Blair was arrested on Sunday after a violent incident aboard a Delta Air Lines flight from Los Angeles to New York.

Blair allegedly punched one flight attendant and bit another after she tried to open the plane door midflight. One of the flight attendants received medical treatment at a hospital after the incident.

No Operational Impact on the Flight

Despite the commotion, the flight was not disrupted. The aircraft landed at John F. Kennedy Airport at around 11 p.m., ahead of schedule.

Law enforcement officers were already waiting at the gate when the plane landed in New York. The 54-year-old actress was then taken into custody and brought to the hospital for evaluation.

Blair’s representative said in a statement, “Selma experienced a medical emergency that led to the alleged conduct. Upon landing, she received immediate medical attention and is currently in stable condition.”

The FBI, the agency in charge of investigating assaults aboard aircraft, declined to provide details. Sydney Kleinmann, a spokesperson for the FBI NY, said: “Yesterday, we were informed by our partners at Port Authority Police Department of a potential assault aboard a flight that arrived into JFK. As per long-standing DOJ policy, we do not comment on ongoing investigations.”

A Delta spokesperson said in a statement: “Delta has zero tolerance for unruly or unlawful behavior, as the safety of our customers and crew always comes first.”

Selma Blair’s Previous In-Flight Incident

This is not the first time Blair has been involved in an incident aboard a flight. In 2016, Blair was removed from a flight on a stretcher after experiencing a “total psychotic blackout.” Her then 4-year-old son was also on the flight.

Blair, however, said the incident was caused by taking a pill and drinking a glass of wine at the same time. She said, “It was horrible and frightening and I had empathy for myself actually afterwards because it was actually so out of character for me, especially because I’m a mother.”

Blair’s most recent public appearance was earlier this month during an Anti-Defamation League event in New York City.
