Delta Expands Luggage Delivery Partnership with Roadie

Delta Air Lines has expanded its partnership with delivery tech company Roadie just in time for the busy summer travel period.

Atlanta-based Roadie connects businesses and people with drivers that make long-haul, local and regional deliveries and has been working with Delta to airlines/delta-s-bag-delivery-gets-a-creative-makeover.html” target=”_self” rel=”nofollow noopener noreferrer”>help reunite passengers with lost or delayed luggage since 2015.

MORE Airlines & Airports

On Wednesday, the airline announced plans to add 22 airports to its existing roster of more than 50 Roadie locations this quarter. Recently launched Roadie locations include Kansas City, St. Louis, Columbus and Dayton, Ohio, Chicago-Midway and Norfolk.

With the help of Roadie, affected customers are able to receive real-time updates allowing them to track their bags from the moment they leave the airport.

According to Delta, airports using Roadie have reported 65 percent faster delivery times on average. Meanwhile, delivery times at established locations have improved by 20 percent year over year in wake of continual technological enhancements.

“We are working hard to eliminate bag delays but when they do happen, we want to reunite customers with their bags as quickly and painlessly as possible. Roadie has been an important partner in reducing delays and hassles for customers,” Delta’s Chief Operating Officer Gil West said in a statement.

“We’re proud to help Delta get bags back into customers’ hands faster and friendlier than any other airline in the industry,” added Marc Gorlin, Founder & CEO of Roadie. “We’re transforming mishaps into wins, and customers are taking notice. Not only have we drastically reduced delivery times, but customer satisfaction scores have shot up as well.”

Last month, Delta Air Lines President Glen Hauenstein said the airline wants to evolve in the coming years from just selling airline tickets to selling the journey. “You want to go from your office or your house and you want to wind up at a particular hotel or venue. That’s what we need to integrate into the buying process,” he said in an interview with Red Ventures CEO Ric Elias.

Delta partners with Roadie in the following locations: Atlanta; Anchorage; Augusta, Ga.; Austin; Baltimore; Birmingham.
