Disabled Passenger Decries Rough Treatment From Qantas

Disabled Passenger Decries Rough Treatment From Qantas

Australian passenger Shane Hryhorec claims that Qantas flight staff would not allow him to board his flight after being given conflicting information about whether his wheelchair would be allowed in the cabin of the flight.

According to Hryhorec, he was told by flight staff that he would have to store his wheelchair in the hold of the aircraft after previously receiving contradictory information about being able to store it in the overhead bin of the Boeing 737.

“I can’t afford having my chair to be damaged. I run a company that replaces wheelchairs that have been damaged in flights. I understand what happens when people fly with their chair in the hold,” said Hryhorec.

In a statement, Qantas apologized for the incident.
