Family Booted from American Flight for Body Odor

A American Airlines flight this week after fellow passengers complained about their body odor.

According to Local 10 News, Yossi Adler, his wife and their 19-month-old daughter were scheduled to return to Detroit on Wednesday night after vacationing in Miami when they were escorted off of their flight at Miami International Airport.

“All of a sudden, as soon as they took us off, they closed the gate and then they said, ‘Sorry, sir, some people complained you had body odor, and we’re not letting you back on,'” Adler told the news outlet.

“There’s no body odor that we have,” he added. “There’s nothing wrong with us.”

The family said that they were told their luggage would be removed from the plane but claimed that didn’t happen. “They have our car seat, stroller, everything,” Jennie Adler told Local 10 News.

American Airlines confirmed the reason behind the family’s removal in a statement Wednesday: “Mr. Adler and his wife were removed from the flight when several passengers complained about their body odor. They have been booked into a hotel for the night and given meal vouchers. They have been rebooked on a flight Thursday.”

The family confirmed that they eventually made it to Detroit and received their luggage but are still seeking answers.

“We stopped several people in the airport and, it’s embarrassing, but we asked them, ‘Do you think we smell? Because we just got kicked off a plane for smelling,'” Jennie Adler added.

“I want them to own up to what really happened and to tell me the truth,” Yossi Adler told Local 10 News. “What was it?”

The incident comes just a few months after a Transavia Airlines flight was forced to make an emergency landing when a foul-smelling passenger caused several people on the plane to become physically ill.
