Five More TransPacific Routes Feature Delta One Seats

More luxury, comfort, and choice are on the horizon for Delta’s flights between the United States, Asia, and Australia.

The airline announced today that as it takes delivery of additional A350-900 aircraft and refurbishes more of its 777-200ER and LR aircraft, it will be offering more flights with Delta One suite, it’s the Delta Premium Select cabin. In addition, the airline is adding nine-abreast seating in the main cabin.

Five trans-Pacific routes will benefit from the improvements including the Minneapolis/St. Paul to Tokyo Haneda; Atlanta to Tokyo Narita; Seattle to Tokyo Narita; Los Angeles LAX to Tokyo Haneda and finally, Los Angeles LAX to Sydney.

The effective dates of the new offerings will vary by route and are slated to come online between November and March. The start date for the enhanced 777-200LR service between Los Angeles and Sydney, however, has yet to be published.

Delta’s Airbus A350-900 flagship and upgraded 777 design is part of the airline’s multi-billion dollar investment in the overall customer experience.

Over the past several years, that effort has included enhancements to the Main Cabin experience including free meals on select coast-to-coast routes, free mobile messaging, free in-flight entertainment and upgrading Main Cabin snacks. The airline has also added sparkling wine, access to Wi-Fi on nearly all flights, enhanced blankets and refreshed food-for-purchase options.

As for the Delta One experience, efforts there have included new chef-designed menus curated by Jon Shook and Vinny Dotolo for flights from LAX and refreshed TUMI amenity kits with Kiehl’s products.

Overall, Delta is planning to refurbish eight of its 777-200ER planes and all ten of its 777-200LR aircraft. The airline also expects to have taken delivery of 13 A350s by the end of 2019.
