An Israir Airlines attendant was arrested Friday after he reportedly stole money that passengers donated to charity during a flight.

According to The Times of Israel, the unnamed 52-year-old male suspect was working on a domestic flight from Eilat Airport to Ben-Gurion International Airport in Tel Aviv on August 24 when the incident took place.

Israir Airlines was running a promotion asking passengers to donate money to various charitable organizations via special envelopes that were left in seat pockets. The suspected flight service manager allegedly collected the envelops and kept the money for himself.

When the plane landed in Tel Aviv, police officers located and arrested the flight attendant, who admitted to the crime. Authorities searched the suspect’s suitcase and home, which turned up several charity envelopes with around $2,500 in cash inside.

Israir Airlines issued a full apology and said it has launched an investigation into the incident.
