Fly From Wine Country to Denver Starting in 2019

WHY IT RATES: New flights between Sonoma County and Denver, via United Airlines, will make visiting California Wine Country easier than ever before.—Jessica Zickefoose, TravelPulse Associate Editor

Charles M. Schulz—Sonoma County Airport (STS) announced today that United Airlines will begin air service to/from Denver International Airport (DEN) starting March 8, 2019. Expansion of air service to/from Wine Country is a strategic move for both United and STS.

Denver and Sonoma County are popular tourism and business destinations and Denver is a major United hub where STS travelers can connect to over 145 destinations on United Airline’s expansive worldwide network. Tickets for these daily flights are available for purchase at united.com.

The new flights with midday arrival and departure from STS will be operated with a Bombardier CRJ 200 regional aircraft.

“This new flight between Sonoma will give Wine Country residents hundreds of options to connect through our mid-continent Denver hub to destinations all over the Midwest, East Coast and to our international network,” United President of California Janet Lamkin said.

“And the new flight will make it easier for customers in the Midwest and East Coast to plan Wine Country vacations. We are committed to connecting California to the world and bringing the world to California.”

Sonoma County Supervisor James Gore says, “This is fantastic news. Denver flights open up Sonoma County to the rest of the United States and beyond for easy and efficient travel. The entire team at the airport, the county and its business partners came together to make this happen. I personally plan to be on the first flight to Denver. Who wants to join me?”

“Sonoma County Tourism is elated with a non-stop flight between Santa Rosa and Denver. Denver is an important feeder market into Sonoma County for both leisure and business travelers and provides a gateway for international travelers as well. Sonoma County Tourism is committed to working with the airport, United Airlines and all affiliated partners to ensure this flight is successful and leads to additional airlift into the destination,” says Claudia Vecchio, president/CEO of Sonoma County Tourism.

“It’s exciting to welcome new air service to Denver, and United Airlines’ decision to open up the Santa Rosa market speaks to Sonoma County’s increasing appeal both in the business and leisure markets,” said Peter Rumble, CEO of the Santa Rosa Metro Chamber.

“We are particularly excited about the opportunity to attract more inbound travelers from the high-tech sector. Santa Rosa’s appeal as a world-class destination and United’s addition of nonstop service to Denver addresses a growing need in our market.”

“We are excited that United Airlines is extending their service to Denver,” said Brad Calkins, executive director of Visit Santa Rosa. “Adding non-stop air service from a strong market like Denver gives both local residents and visitors more travel options including the ability to reach many Midwest and East Coast destinations with one stop from United’s major hub in Denver.”

Denver has been a targeted destination for over a decade. We are thrilled to finally see this route come to fruition. We are grateful to the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors, Sonoma County Tourism, Visit Santa Rosa and local chambers and businesses that supported our bid for this service.
