Frontier Airlines Adds New Routes from North Carolina

WHY IT RATES: Travel agents with clients in the Raleigh/Durham area now have more flight options to the Caribbean than ever before.—Donald Wood, Breaking News Senior Writer.

MORE Airlines & Airports

Frontier Airlines is expanding its signature low-fare service between Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU) and six new cities, starting just in time for Thanksgiving and holiday travel. The addition of these destinations, which includes flights to Jamaica, means the airline will serve 27 cities non-stop from the Triangle.

The new cities from Raleigh/Durham include the following international destinations: Cancun, Montego Bay and Punta Cana. Frontier is also adding domestic service to Fort Myers, West Palm Beach and Phoenix. Frontier will be the only airline offering non-stop service on four of these six routes. The carrier will operate these new routes with the Airbus A320 family of aircraft.

“The response from the Raleigh-Durham community to our Low Fares Done Right mission has been tremendous,” said Daniel Shurz, Senior Vice President, Commercial of Frontier Airlines. “With this winter’s schedule, we will offer a great range of sun destinations to customers from the Triangle.”

“Vacation just got a whole lot easier and more affordable this winter,” said Mike Landguth Raleigh-Durham International Airport’s President and CEO. “A non-stop flight to paradise no longer requires a connection thanks to Frontier’s expansion into the Caribbean from RDU. Thanks for bringing our travelers closer to more sunshine and sandy beaches.”

Frontier is focused on more than low fares. The carrier offers customers the ability to customize their travel to their needs and budget. For example, customers can purchase options a la carte or in one low-priced bundle called the WORKS. This bundle includes refundability, a carry-on bag, a checked bag, the best available seat, waived change fees and priority boarding.
