Officials at an airport in Argentina were forced to evacuate the facility Tuesday when they discovered a grenade that turned out to be a marijuana grinder.
According to the Associated Press, police were called to Astor Piazzolla International Airport in Buenos Aires when employees found the grenade-shaped object inside the building. Bomb squad officers arrived at the scene and quickly determine it was not an explosive.

Instead, the grenade was discovered to be a grinder used to break marijuana into smaller pieces for smoking. Police believe a passenger at the airport likely found the item in their luggage and left it at the facility to avoid the repercussions from security personnel.
As a result of the evacuation, several flights were delayed at the Argentine airport until authorities cleared the faux explosive.
The head of Argentina’s national airport police, Alejandro Itzcovich, told The AP that authorities are working to find out who left the grenade-shaped grinder inside Astor Piazzolla International.
A similar incident took place in 2016 when a grenade-shaped marijuana grinder was found in a man’s carry-on luggage at Bellingham International Airport in Washington, causing flight delays at the facility.
