Passengers Wait in Long Lines at Atlanta Airport, Patriots Fly to Disney

After a boring battle between the New England Patriots and the Los Angeles Rams in Sunday’s Super Bowl, the Atlanta airport was dealing with long lines as fans traveled home.

According to The Associated Press, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport general manager John Selden dubbed the day after the Super Bowl “Mass Exodus Monday” and reported waits of more than an hour to get through security checkpoints.

In total, experts predicted the Atlanta airport would screen around 110,000 passengers Monday, which is considerably more than the average 60,000 to 80,000 travelers per day.

While the fans who saw the Super Bowl waited in long lines to get on their flights home, Patriots star quarterback Tom Brady and MVP Julian Edelman flew to Orlando after uttering some of the most famous words in sports, “We’re going to Disney World!”

Brady and Edelman continued a Disney Parks tradition that started in 1987 when quarterback Phil Simms celebrated a Super Bowl win at Disney World. The Super Bowl quarterback and MVP were scheduled to participate in a parade at Magic Kingdom Park Monday.
