Meliá Elevates Guest Experience with Bracelets

Meliá Hotels International and Oracle have teamed up to create bracelets that serve as room keys and enable guests to pay for such services as restaurant meals and spa treatments.

The devices, which are connected to the Meliá App, enable guests to track their spending, create credit limits, receive receipts and cancel services.

The program is being tested at Meliá’s Katmandu Park Hotel and the Calviá Beach The Plaza in Magaluf on Spanish island of Mallorca, with guests able to use the bracelets to pay for hotel services, Meliá said. Additionally, guests staying any of the company’s nine Magaluf properties are able to use bracelets for restaurant and spa services.

“At Meliá Hotels International we imagined a new type of vacation in which guests could enjoy all of our hotel services without having to worry about carrying around cash or ID,” said Meliá Hotels International Vice President and CEO Gabriel Escarrer. “That is now a reality, thanks to this innovative project in partnership with Oracle.”

In other developments, Meliá Hotels International said it integrating the WhatsApp Business tool into its operations in order to send guests such information as booking confirmation numbers, hotel locations and contacts numbers to guests who elect to take advantage of the service

“It is part of our customer experience strategy to be present in all consumer-relevant channels, which includes WhatsApp,” said Escarrer. “Adding WhatsApp to our communications portfolio also allows us to get closer to customers and drive innovation in the industry, two of the fundamental values of our company.”
