On Wednesday, August 28th, Hawaiian Airlines flight attendants, represented by the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA), picketed at Daniel K. Inouye International Airport (HNL) to protest protracted contract negotiations with Hawaiian Airlines management.

Aviation’s first responders at Hawaiian Airlines safely evacuated almost 200 passengers under a minute at HNL airport on Thursday last week after the crew declared an in-flight emergency due to smoke in the cargo hold and cabin.
From an Association of Flight Attendants statement:
“Hawaiian Airlines Flight Attendants’ pay has fallen in comparison with the rest of the industry while the cost of living and medical expenses continue to rise. After twenty years of calm labor relations, Hawaiian Airlines flight attendants have taken their fight for a fair contract public.
Negotiations continued last week in Portland. Management presented their economic proposal, continuing to insist on concessions while the airline announces profits. While small wage increases were offered, concessions proposed in other areas would negate some of those increases for Flight Attendants. We will continue our fight to share in the success of the airline.”
