New York City Authorities Help Rescue Sick Cruise Passenger

The New York Police Department came to the rescue of a Carnival Cruise passenger who was having a medical emergency onboard the Carnival Horizon as it left New York on September 5, 2018.

Officials had to determine the best way to remove the passenger from the ship since there was not enough room to land a helicopter on the deck. An NYPD Harbor Unit boat responded to the scene.

Reports noted that the passenger was experiencing cardiac arrest shortly after the cruise ship departed from Manhattan’s West Side.

According to reports on CBS in New York, a woman in her 70s was complaining of chest pains. She was taken off the ship and to the Staten Island Hospital and is in fair condition.
