Venus Williams Calls Out American Airlines for Losing Her Bags

Calling out American Airlines, Venus Williams announced on Instagram that it is now her “full-time job” to look for her lost bags.

The 43-year-old, seven-time Grand Slam champion flew to Montreal via American Airlines for a tournament, but her bags ended up 1,400 miles away in the Bahamas.

Posting the airline in a story, she said that she was “even in the million-mile club.” She said that “I’m not sure why you sent my bag to the Bahamas when I was traveling to Montreal. Now I have a match today. I’ve been trying to get my bags for three days now. I think I spent all my unlimited minutes calling you all which has become my full-time job day and night.”

She then sarcastically said that “This has been so much fun” then followed by the smiling-crying emoji.

Lost Bags Became Rampant in 2022

Airlines had the highest number of lost bags in the summer of 2022. It translated to a total of 26 million misplaced bags in 2022. In January, there was a case of a woman who was reunited with her bag four years after it was mishandled by United Airlines.

Madison Keys Beats Venus Williams

Williams entered the Canadian Open in Montreal as a wild card entry. However, she lost to No. 13 seed Madison Keys, losing two straight sets 6-2, 7-5. Keys and Williams crossed paths on five other occasions on WTA Tour. Before their match at the Canadian Open, Keys has more wins against Williams, 3 to 2.

Williams is set to participate in the upcoming US Open, an event where she has clinched two singles championships in the past. And despite injuries, she’s looking forward to playing in the event. She said “I feel like it’s been too long. I really fought my utmost to be here. Icing five times a day, therapy three times a day, praying, all sorts of interventions.”
