Why the West is the Ultimate Travel Destination for Families

If you belong to a family that loves to travel, the Western U.S. area should definitely be one of your travel destinations. Traveling with kids can be difficult if a lot of the activities in the area have limitations on child participation, but there are countless activities in the West that all members of your family can participate in. Here are a few of the different appealing features of traveling in the West.

Beaches

One of the really fun activities that families can participate in together is visiting the beach. There are beautiful beaches all along the western coast that provide great opportunities for family entertainment. Particularly in California, the beaches are very popular. There are countless beaches in California that are sunny, warm, and fun with waves that are small enough for young children to play in. Some beaches have large waves with very strong currents and may not be quite as appropriate for families with young children to play at. If you’re trying to find the best beaches to visit with your children, take some time to do some research about family-friendly areas.

National Parks

Another highlight of the West is the plethora of national parks that dot the area. Many of the great national parks are located just hours from Las Vegas. From Zions National Park to Arches National Park to Bryce Canyon to the Grand Canyon, there are countless options that you should visit. The great thing about these national parks is that most of them have family-friendly hikes and areas to explore. While each of them has more strenuous adult activities such as advanced hikes and rappelling, there are lots of options available for children.

Winter Sports

If you are wanting to get away for a fun winter vacation over Christmas break, the West still has a lot to offer. Along the Wasatch Front and throughout the Rocky Mountains, there are some of the best skiing locations. Additionally, the 2002 Winter Olympics were even hosted in Salt Lake City, Utah, so there are lots of famous Olympic sites that provide opportunities for winter sports experiences. If your kids are interested in playing in deep, fluffy snow, or want to learn to ski, the West could be one of your best winter destinations.

As you are planning your next family vacation, remember to keep the West in mind. Don’t forget the different vacation destinations that have been discussed and referenced in this article. Make sure that you take the time to explore each of these beautiful destinations, and you are guaranteed to fall in love with the West again and again.
