American Cruise Lines Names Newest Riverboat Ship

“American Jazz” will be the name of the third vessel in U.S. river cruise operator American Cruise Lines’ Modern Riverboat series. The ship is currently under construction at Chesapeake Shipbuilding in Salisbury, MD and is scheduled to launch Mississippi River itineraries beginning in 2020.

American Jazz will be slightly larger than both the first and second ships in the series, American Song and American Harmony, say company officials. The newest ship will feature the same opening bow and retractable gangway found aboard the earlier vessels.

MORE Cruise Line & Cruise Ship

American Cruise Lines is planning to launch five vessels as part of the Modern Riverboat series. Meanwhile, American Song is currently offering Columbia and Snake River itineraries out West while American Harmony will begin sailing the Mississippi River beginning in August.

American Cruise Lines operates coastal cruise ships, Victorian-style paddlewheel vessels and modern riverboats, with all ships numbering between 100 and 200 passengers.

The company’s ships are built, crewed and registered in the U.S. and offer more than 35 itineraries to 25 states, including cruises along American rivers and the coastal and inland waterways of New England, Alaska, the Pacific Northwest, the Mississippi River system and the Southeast.
