American Adding Flights Between Japan, Las Vegas for CES 2019

American Airlines announced Wednesday a special nonstop flight between Narita International Airport in Tokyo and McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas.

The flights were added in response to demand from the 2019 Consumer Electronics Show (CES 2019), which runs between January 8-11, 2019. American will operate the extra service between Tokyo and Las Vegas on January 4–14, 2019.

“Thousands of travelers from Japan and other parts of Asia make their way to Las Vegas every year for CES,” American managing director Shane Hodges said in a statement. “The network and onboard experience offered by American and Japan Airlines as part of our Pacific Joint Business is world-class, and we are thrilled to make getting to the world’s largest technology event faster and easier than ever before.”

American’s special service will be flown with a Boeing 787-8 and will replace the service between Chicago O’Hare International Airport and Narita International Airport for the 10-day period. For travelers, Japan Airlines will still serve the Chicago-Tokyo route during the CES 2019 conference period.

“Travelers in Asia are discerning, wanting the best schedule on the best aircraft,” Japan Airlines vice president Noboru Hirai said. “This special service allows us to do that, while closely working with American to tailor it to the needs of Japanese customers.”

The Boeing 787-8’s two-class setup features Flagship Business which includes 28 fully lie-flat seats with direct-aisle access, 55 Main Cabin Extra seats and 143 Main Cabin seats. The plane is equipped with satellite Wi-Fi and all seats offer HD touchscreen monitors with the latest movies and TV shows.
