JetBlue Comes to Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport

After a decade of being courted by local airport officials, JetBlue has added Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport to its service areas.

The airline conducted its inaugural flight to the airport today, arriving just before 9 a.m. local time, according to a statement from JetBlue.

The new flights in the Twin Cities mark the first-ever scheduled JetBlue service in Minnesota, The airline will operate the route three times daily.

“With the most legroom in coach, complimentary gate-to-gate high-speed Fly-Fi Internet, free unlimited snacks, the best crew members in the industry and great fares; JetBlue is ready to change the way customers fly in Minneapolis and Saint Paul,” John Checketts, vice president network planning, JetBlue, said in a statement. “We’re raising the bar on what Twin Cities travelers can come to expect when they fly.”

Minneapolis – Saint Paul attracts more than 30 million visitors annually and is home to more than one dozen Fortune 500 companies.

The Twin Cities also regularly receive top marks for jobs, education and quality of life among large American metropolitan areas.

Minneapolis–Saint Paul International Airport is10 miles from both downtown Minneapolis and downtown Saint Paul, which handles nearly 40 million travelers each year.

“The Metropolitan Airports Commission – together with our business partners in the community – has been pursuing service from JetBlue for a decade,” Brian Ryks, CEO of the Metropolitan Airports Commission, said in a statement. “JetBlue is one of the most respected airlines in the nation, and we couldn’t be more pleased to have this added service to Boston – the 10th most popular destination for Minnesota travelers.”

All Minneapolis flights will be operated on JetBlue’s Airbus A320 aircraft, which features comfortable seating; complimentary and unlimited name-brand snacks; more than 100 channels of free SIRIUSXM radio programming and 36 channels of free, live DIRECTV programming on personal seatback televisions; free Fly-Fi high-speed wireless Internet and more.

JetBlue said its new Twin Cities service also advances its position as the top airline in Boston in number of flights, customers carried and nonstop destinations served.

Minneapolis is the 65th nonstop city served from Logan.
