United to Launch New Seasonal, Nonstop Flights to Saint Kitts

United Airlines is bringing a second flight to St. Kitts for the first time.

The carrier announced Monday that it is slated to launch a second weekly nonstop flight from its New York hub at Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) to St. Kitts, complementing the carrier’s existing Saturday service.

Hey “The addition of a mid-week flight by United Airlines marks yet another historic first for St. Kitts this year,” said Lindsay F.P. Grant, minister of tourism, international trade, industry and commerce, in a written release. “I could not be more pleased to welcome this additional service, which increases the available options for visitors and Diaspora to get to island during peak travel season from the New York metropolitan area, which is our primary source market for arrivals.”

For the period from January 9 through March 6, 2019, United will operate a total of nine scheduled round-trip, non-stop Wednesday flights between Newark, New Jersey and St. Kitts.

Flights leave New Jersey at 8:35 a.m. and arrive in St. Kitts at 2:05 p.m. Returning flights leave St. Kitts at 3:05 p.m. and arrive back in Newark at 7:07 p.m.

United Airlines and United Express operate roughly 4,600 flights a day to 357 airports across five continents. In 2017, United and United Express operated more than 1.6 million flights carrying more than 148 million customers.

The news comes on the heels of cruise history for St. Kitts.

The island recently received its one millionth cruise passenger, reaching the key number of arrivals that gives the island marquee port status for the first time in its history.

St. Kitts reached the one million cruise passenger mark this morning with the arrival of guests from Royal Caribbean International’s Freedom of the Seas.
